CDE Proposes Changes to Due Process Procedures

Posted on February 16, 2011

The Colorado Department of Education has announced its proposed emergency Amendments to the Rules for the Administration of the Exceptional Children’s Educational Act regarding Colorado’s due process system.  If adopted by the Colorado Department of Education, the proposed amendments will eliminate the two-tier due process system that has been in existence in Colorado since the Act’s enactment.  The proposed amendments will also eliminate the use of Impartial Hearing Officers (IHO) to decide special education disputes.  Rather, CDE will contract with the Colorado Office of Administrative Courts to have Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) hear and decide the due process complaint.   The proposed Amendments are available online at  CDE has already scheduled regional hearings to discuss the proposed amendments and receive public comments.

Well, what a nice experience it has been looking over a blog like this. So I thought I would offer some feedback. This site was actually recommended to me by a work collegue so based on that I thought I should ‘trot on over’ & check it over and yes, my friend was right… terrific effort. There is an endless number of sites published that are totally uninteresting and it is cetainly refreshing to see someone shooting from the hip, keep it up.

Well now, such a pleasant experience its been looking over this blog. And so I thought I would make a post. This site was actually recommended to me so I thought I’d get myself over here & have a look and yes, my friend wasn’t wrong… great work. It is a shame but there is an endless number of blogs on the net which are just plain boring and it’s heartwarming to see someone putting in the effort to get it right, keep it up.
